After SURGERY:

  • Eye Shield: This is to protect your eye. Please tape the shield over operated eye at bedtime or during naps for one week.
  • Vision: We will not have you change your glasses for about one month. If your old glasses lens blurs your vision, it can be removed from your glasses. Without glasses however, your near vision usually will be poor.
  • Sunglasses: These will be given to you for your comfort for outdoor use as needed.
  • Activities: Do not touch or put pressure on your eye for 2 weeks after surgery. Refrain from strenuous activities such as lifting over 15lbs. the week after your surgery. Avoid dirty and dusty environments. You may be outside, do light work, read, or cook without damage to the eye. You can resume all of your normal activities including gardening and swimming after 2 weeks. No eye make-up for 2 weeks.
  • Safety: Because your vision will likely be blurry, use extra care when walking, using stairs, and driving. Someone else will need to drive you home following surgery. If you feel safe to do so, you can start driving again 24 hours after your surgery.
  • Call For: DECREASING VISION, SEVERE EYE PAIN OR HEADACHE UNRELIEVED BY TYLENOL/ADVIL AND ARTIFICIAL TEARS.
