Cataract Surgery at Triad Ophthalmic Physicians

The only way to remove a cataract is with cataract surgery. Dr. Griessel will recommend removing a cataract when it keeps you from doing things you want or need to do.

The surgery will be completed at Hawthorne Outpatient Surgical Center.

During cataract surgery, your cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens. That lens is called an intraocular lens (IOL). The IOL is determined with precise measurements that are completed at the time of your cataract evaluation.

Modern cataract surgery typically is a painless outpatient procedure that restores vision and can reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses.  Astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and even presbyopia (the need for reading glasses) also can be treated at the time of cataract surgery.
