BOTOX
Triad Ophthalmic Physicians offers medical and cosmetic BOTOX.
What is Botox?
Botox is a purified form of Botulinum toxin type A, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. While the term “toxin” might sound alarming, Botox is used in tiny, controlled doses and is FDA-approved for both cosmetic and certain medical applications.
Purpose:
- Smoothes fine lines and dynamic wrinkles caused by facial muscle movements.
- Temporarily relaxes muscles to create a softer, refreshed appearance.
How Does Botox Work?
- Botox works at the neuromuscular junction, blocking the signal from nerves to specific muscles.
- This prevents contraction in targeted areas, reducing the visibility of wrinkles.
- Muscle activity returns gradually over three to 6 months, and treatments can be repeated safely under professional supervision.
Common Treatment Areas:
- Forehead lines
- Glabellar lines (between the eyebrows)
- Crow’s feet (outer eye corners)
Consultation:
Before treatment, you’ll have a one-on-one consultation to discuss goals, review medical history, and determine the best injection sites.
Procedure:
- Quick and minimally invasive (10–20 minutes).
- Small, precise injections using a fine needle.
- Typically comfortable, with only brief pinching sensations.
Results:
- Effects typically start within 3–5 days, with full results in 1–2 weeks.
- Results usually last 3–6 months depending on the individual and treatment area.
